ARTIST BIOGRAPHY / 2026
Guan Boyang (GUAN265) is a singular voice in China's IDM and experimental electronic music scene. Based in Hangzhou, he is an electronic music producer, sound artist, and founder and director of Analog Landing. He holds a master's degree in Intermedia Art from China Academy of Art, and his practice examines digital society and the relationship between humans and machines. He describes his musical aesthetic as "high-tech naturalism." Moving freely across genres, he draws on lived experience and imagined futures to develop a mutable, radical sonic language with an organic texture. His work also extends to moving image, interactive installation, and software development. Across these forms, sound, image, code, and space operate as a perceptual system.
As co-founder of the experimental club label FunctionLab, GUAN has collaborated with Mola Oddity, Amber Kuo, Cheng Ran, BRDG, Martin Goya Business, and UFO Terminal. He has released several albums and EPs through Modern Sky, Merrie Records, D Force Records, NU-S3RVO, and The Collection Artaud. Performing as GUAN265 or GUAN, he has presented work at major media art festivals, art museums, concert halls, and experimental electronic music clubs, including the Power Station of Art in Shanghai and Xi'an Concert Hall. His international appearances include WWW and DOMMUNE in Tokyo, along with performances and exhibitions in the UK through British Council programmes.
